Bring in the New Year with a happy and peaceful mind
Join us for a delicious vegetarian buffet and non-alcoholic drinks and be guided in an uplifting meditation and receive a short talk with reflective advice with Kadampa teacher Chammy Sirisena.
Before midnight we will engage in candle-lit prayers to the Buddha of Compassion Avalokiteshvara, and see in the New Year with a powerful mantra dedicated to world peace.

THE TEACHER
Chammy teaches the weekly Peebles class. She is originally from Sri Lanka and has been practising Kadampa Buddhism in the west for many years. Chammy draws from her experience as a working medical professional and mother of three to transmit Buddha’s teachings in a way that can easily be integrated into busy modern life. An experienced student studying the Foundation Programme, Chammy teaches occasional courses and events at the Centre and within the Scottish Borders. She is known for her kind heart, discerning wisdom and the clarity she brings to her teachings.

TRAVEL
Pay and display parking has recently been introduced into the local area around the Centre.
Tram networks to Newhaven are now fully operational with the nearest tram stop to the Centre being at Balfour Street, a few minutes walk away.
Buses also operate as normal down Leith Walk.
