THE TEACHER

Chammy teaches the weekly Peebles class.  She is originally from Sri Lanka and has been practising Kadampa Buddhism in the west for many years. Chammy draws from her experience as a working medical professional and mother of three to transmit Buddha’s teachings in a way that can easily be integrated into busy modern life. An experienced student studying the Foundation Programme, Chammy teaches occasional courses and events at the Centre and within the Scottish Borders. She is known for her kind heart, discerning wisdom and the clarity she brings to her teachings.

TRAVEL

By Car

The Borders General Hospital is just outside Melrose on the A6091.

From the East, take the A68 to the junction with the A6091, signposted Melrose, Galashiels. Travel along this road for approximately 3 miles, when you will see the Hospital signposted to your left.

From Galashiels and the A7, follow signs for Hawick (A7). At the junction with A6091 (Kingsknowes Roundabout), follow the 1st exit A6091 (signposted Jedburgh). You will cross a further two roundabouts – keep travelling on the A6091. About 1/4 mile along this road you will see signs for the Borders General Hospital on your right.

By Public Transport

The nearest train station is Tweedbank (1 mile).

Several bus services stop at Borders General Hospital: 60, 61/67/69, 62B/X62, 68, 128 & 313.
