Get away from it all and enjoy a special weekend of rest and reflection at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, a thriving Buddhist community nestled along Morecambe bay at the mouth of the Lake District.
Explore the beautiful grounds, magical woods and splendid beaches, and sit quietly or amongst like-minded people in the cosy Cafe and reading rooms.
On this special weekend we will enjoy inspiring talks and meditations, designed to give newcomers and experienced practitioners alike the opportunity to reset and restore through Buddha’s practical teachings.
Immerse yourself in a weekend of calm and tranquillity at the stunning Temple for World Peace at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre.

Bookings
Bookings carry a 25% non-refundable and non-transferable fee.
No refunds are available after 29th October.
Retreat sessions
The first retreat session will begin on Friday evening at 7.30pm and the last will be before lunch on Sunday.
Meals
Meals start with supper Friday evening, 6.30pm, and end with Sunday lunch, 1pm.
There are various dietary options:

Twin/Double – sharing
If you are sharing a twin/ double room with a second person, please give their name when booking. One person should book the room and the second person should book the ‘Twin/Double second person’ option.
Check-in
Check-in open for 2pm on Friday.
There is a Café at the Centre if you arrive early.

Booking & Payment
So that we can best prepare for your visit, we ask that you please book at least 24 hours in advance. All course bookings must be made using the relevant booking form.
All bookings must be made through the KMC Edinburgh website.
Payment: To book for the retreat you will need to pay in full.
Accommodation
We offer the following types of accommodation:
Ensuite single, twin, and triple rooms (mainly on the 2nd floor of the main Priory building or adjacent cottages).
Standard single and twin rooms with shared bathroom facilities.
Dormitory accommodation mainly with bunk beds
All linen and towels are provided in single, twin, and triple rooms. Bed linen is provided in dormitory accommodation but please bring your own towel.
Conishead Priory is a listed building and we do not have a lift. If you have any mobility issues or special needs please tell us at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate you. We do not currently have any ensuite accessible rooms.
Children & Young Adults
Children (under 16) and Young Adults (16 & 17) are welcome to attend courses/events at Manjushri KMC. We consider their safety and wellbeing to be of the utmost importance and for this reason some special conditions apply.
All under 16s must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, or other adult care giver (over 18), and they remain the responsibility of that adult at all times. We do not offer child care facilities and Manjushri KMC cannot be held responsible for children whilst on site.
All 16 & 17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).
Cancellation & Refund Policy
For a booking cancellation prior to Monday 29th October the 25% deposit will be retained and the balance will be refunded. Bookings cannot be refunded after 29th October.
Donating cancelled Fees to International Temple’s Project.
If you wish to donate the refundable portion of your cancelled fee to the International Temple’s Project, please indicated this at the time of cancellation.
Confirmation – You will receive an email to say your booking has been received.
Accommodation & what to bring
Bedding and towels are provided in all single, twin, and triple accommodations as are tea/coffee making facilities. Bed linen/duvet are provided for dormitory accommodation, please bring your own towel. Conishead Priory has 70 acres of woodland which you are welcome to explore. You may find it helpful to bring waterproof jacket/trousers and footwear suitable for muddy woodland.
Meals
All meals are vegetarian and may contain dairy, eggs and wheat. Please indicate in the booking form if you require vegan or wheat-free meals*
*Please note that due to potential cross-contamination we cannot offer gluten-free meals or guarantee that any of our meals are free from allergens. Please check with the kitchen manager for more detailed info about allergens/ingredients.
Restricted Mobility
Fully accessible toilet facilities are available near the Temple, we regret that currently there are no fully accessible toilet facilities within the main building. There are toilet facilities on the ground floor of the main building but these are not wheelchair accessible. Access to the Temple and main building are ramped. Please contact us in advance if you have special requirements or restricted mobility and we will do our best to
meet your needs.
Internet & Mobile Phone Access
Free wifi is available in all public areas and in most accommodation areas.
Because of our rural location and the nature of the buildings, mobile network access is generally very weak. Some networks get no signal at all.
General Guidelines
During your visit to Manjushri KMC you are requested to please refrain from eating meat, smoking (incl. vaping), taking intoxicants and drinking alcohol in the building and in the grounds.
Pets: With regret we cannot accept pets except Guide or other Assistance Dogs.
The Teacher
Gen Norden is the acting resident teacher of KMC Edinburgh. Gen Norden was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1994 and has dedicated her life to teaching modern Buddhism and meditation throughout the U.S. and the U.K. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with students, which she presents with humour, warmth and clarity.
