Weekly Meditation Classes
Mahabodhi centre runs a variety of weekly meditation classes throughout Southern, Central and Eastern Scotland.
All of these classes teach techniques taken from the teachings of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, which help us overcome all our human problems and find inner peace.
The purpose of meditation
The purpose of meditation is to cultivate positive states of mind. In today’s modern world, we are constantly pulled in all directions, from one distraction to another like a candle flame in the wind. We spontaneously engage in negative actions out of force of habit, and experience problems and suffering as a result.
By mixing our mind with positive objects, we slowly loosen the control our negative habits currently have over us, increase our ability to concentrate and come to experience the true inner peace that positive states of mind induce.
